The Cobra takes IBF title from Canadian with brutal fifth round stoppage
Carl Froch is a three-time World champion after he ripped the IBF World super middleweight title away from Lucian Bute with a devastating fifth round stoppage at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham.
The Cobra poured on the pressure with some brutal work in the third round, with Bute getting saved by the bell. The champion fought back at the beginning of the fourth but roared on by his adoring hometown fans, Froch came on strong again and Bute was wobbled as he returned to the corner.

But the Canadian couldn’t hold back the tide any longer as Froch pinned him against the ropes once more and this time Bute crumbled and the referee stepped in and gave him a standing count and Bute’s corner pulled him out, to make Froch a three-time World champion.
“I feel so happy, so elated,” he told Sky Sports. “That performance, I'm giving it to Rob McCracken. I have a lot of conversations with Eddie Hearn and his dad Barry and they talk a lot of sense.
“They talk from the heart, and so does Rob for that matter. And because I've got that team around me it drives me on. I've got a little boy Rocco and a beautiful partner Rachel, and tonight I came here to do it for myself
“It was all or nothing. If I'd have lost tonight, I would have announced my retirement, that's how close it was. But with a performance like that, I'm just so excited about the future it's unbelievable.”
